In May 2019, I went to Alaska to visit a dear friend of mine, Melinda. I landed at the Anchorage airport at 4am, she picked me up and we spent the day exploring the South Central area. We started with a 2.5 hour scenic drive through snow top mountains towards Seward.

Then drove down to Seward and watched the sunrise on the waterfront, behind Mt Alice. Mount Benson, right behind is also quite the view. We had breakfast at Gold Rush Bistro
We drove to Lowell Point because Sea Life doesn’t open till 10am. Took a nap in front of the mountains then went back to Seward for breakfast at Gold Rush, took leisurely walks around seaward then drive 9 miles to exit glacier

From there, we store to Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center... saw a bunch of animals.
Drove back to Girdwood to hike Winner Creek Trail - Favorite experience on the trip!

Day 2
We drove a total of approximately 10hrs in a big loop through a little bit of the interior of Alaska. Drove 4hrs to Denali National Park. To be honest, the drive there was more awe inspiring than the park itself. We spent a total of 30 mins before driving back 3hrs to Talkeetna. Drove around the sleepy little town and had lunch then drove 2hrs to the top of Hatcher Pass, so cold but fun and fulfilling. Drove 1hr home.
*A pair of moose, grazing under hail at the park
Halfway to the top of Hatcher Pass, 56degrees, rocky and super-super chill
*Approximately 4,000ft to the top of Hatcher Pass, one of the Talkeetna mountains, at 9pm!
Stopped at Denali Brewpub and had a Cup of Soup, Cod Fish and Chips, Peanut Butter Pie and a glass of NW Cider Pint for a total of $35.54.
Day 3
For my last day, we kept it localized to Anchorage. Melinda had planned on giving me a flight tour unfortunately, it was a cloudy and windy day so her instructors advised against it. I was really sad as we drove past the planes.

We had breakfast at Snow City Cafe, walked the rocky beach around Point Woronzof, and had a fun hike at Kincaid Park.
For lunch, we drove to Moose’s Tooth. I had a 10” half and half of Call of the wild (reindeer sausage, steak, bacon, portobello and criminology mushrooms, red peppers, green onions, garlic cream sauce, mozzarella, provolone and garlic oil) $13.25 and The Popeye (spinach, roasted red peppers, red onions, mushrooms, mozzarella, provolone, feta, Parmesan, oregano and garlic oil) with a glass of Hard Apple Ale $5.50. Went home for a nap then stopped at Summit Spice & Tea Company on the way to the airport. I bought Coconut Chai and Alyeska Spice for $2.95 each.
